Chapter 20

Zan awoke in the wee hours of the morning. She was disoriented.

She felt a weight on her left shoulder and realized that Kenzie’s head was resting there. Zan frowned and tried to remember how she came to be in Kenzie’s bed. Her tense features were slowly replaced by a smile as she remembered the amazing lovemaking from a few hours earlier.

She glanced at the digital clock on Kenzie’s bedside table. It was three in the morning. She needed to return to the room before Trey realized she was gone.

Zan very carefully moved Kenzie’s head and gently placed it on the pillow. Kenzie rolled onto her back, but remained asleep.

She pushed herself into a seated position and swung her legs over the side of the bed. The movement caused an uncomfortable feeling in her abdomen as though she had done multiple crunch exercises. A slight spasm ran through her as she recalled the exact exercises from the night before. She smiled again and inhaled deeply to regain control.

She felt a hand on her back just as she was about to push off and stand.

“Zan? Where are you going?”

Zan lay back down and took Kenzie into her arms. “I need to go back to the room. Trey will be worried if she finds me gone in the morning.”

“Stay with me. You can leave after sunrise and then tell her you and I met for an early morning walk.”

“You are asking me to deceive Trey?”

“I am asking you to make love to me again.”

Zan smiled and looked into Kenzie’s eyes. She could see passion smoldering there. “How can I resist you?” she said.

“You can’t.”
